Why Enamel Badges Matter

Enamel badges are more than accessories. They’re identity markers, conversation starters, and tiny pieces of art. They let people express who they are without saying a word — and because each one is crafted with care, they feel personal from the moment they’re held.

From Idea to Artwork

It all starts with a spark. A customer gets in touch, ideas start flowing, and the artwork begins to take shape. A few tweaks, a nod of approval, and the design is locked in.

Die Making & First Stampings

The die maker creates the metal die — the “master stamp” that brings the design to life. Back in the workshop, brass blanks are cut and the first impressions are pressed in a 100 tonne press. Sometimes the metal needs a little heat and press rhythm to get every detail crisp and clean.

Shaping the Badge

Early stampings head to the tool maker to create the clipping and piercing tools. Meanwhile, the stamper keeps production rolling. Once the tools return, each badge is clipped to shape and pierced where needed. Brooch style badges get a tiny tube joint soldered neatly on the back.

Adding Colour & Character

Now for the fun part — colour. The enameller adds each shade by hand and fires the badge after every layer. When the colours are complete, the finisher sands everything smooth, and the badges take an overnight tumble for that silky, touch me finish. Any that need a little extra love go back for touch ups.

Shine, Fit & Finish

Next comes polishing. If the badge has a brooch fitting, the safety catch and pin are added now. Then it’s off to plating for that final glow.
